Silver Lining for Station Pier

SILVER LINING FOR STATION PIER

Station Pier will host a maritime spectacle this Sunday with two Silversea cruise ships docking together at Station Pier for the first time.

This landmark occasion will see the double arrival of the luxury cruise liners Silver Nova and Silver Moon at Station Pier, which reopened to the public in October for the first time since 2020, following an upgrade.

To mark this milestone, Ports Victoria, Visit Victoria and the City of Port Phillip are partnering with Silversea to deliver a vibrant portside event at Station Pier.

Ports Victoria CEO Craig Walker said his organisation was honoured to partner with Silversea and welcome the dual arrival of Silversea’s sister vessels to Station Pier.

“Melbourne and regional Victoria are premier destinations for luxury cruising, and we’re proud of the significant economic and cultural benefits this world-class tourism experience delivers to our state.”

Sunday’s event will feature roaming music performers and live large-scale street art by local artist Tom Gerrard, who will create a striking ground mural at the venue which the cruise ship passengers can contribute to when they disembark.

The event complements last month’s upgrade to the pier, which saw the refurbishment of the Gatehouse, structural pylons, electrical systems, corrosion protection and wharf deck – ensuring it remains an accessible destination for operators and visitors.

Victoria’s cruise ship industry employs 1,269 full-time staff, contributes $215.2 million a year to the state’s economy and brings in more than 300,000 visitors to the state.
