Ports Victoria’s role
Ports Victoria manages the maritime navigation and operational safety of Victoria’s commercial ports at Melbourne and Geelong in Port Phillip, and Hastings in Western Port.
We also have oversight of these activities for the port of Portland where the port operator carries out the services.

Shipping movements
Shipping movements in the port waters of the ports of Geelong, Hastings and Melbourne are controlled through Melbourne Vessel Traffic Services, Lonsdale Vessel Traffic Services and Marine Control in Geelong.
Each port operates under its own Harbour Master’s Directions and Port Information Guide / Port Operating Handbook.
