The following explanatory notes and forms apply to persons intending to carry out works on, over or under a part of the port waters of the port of Melbourne.
Ports Victoria has the responsibility under the Marine Safety Act 2010 (Vic) (MSA 2010) as the port management body to ensure that any person intending to carry out works complies with the requirements of section 211 – Control of navigation etc. in the vicinity of works carried out on, over or under waters.
Port works explanatory notes
Before starting any works in the port waters of the port of Melbourne, a person intending to carry out works should refer to the Port Works Explanatory Notes (PDF) for details on the application process and submission requirements.
The notes detail the notification requirements to undertake works in the port waters of the port of Melbourne, including type of works, application timeframes and documentation to be submitted.
Failure to provide the required forms and documentation may result in delays processing the works application prior to the date of intended works commencing.
Port works forms
Port Works Application
This form is to be completed for major or emergency works to be undertaken in the port waters of the port of Melbourne. This form is not required to be completed for routine works.
Works Zone Request Application
This form is to be completed when seeking an exclusion zone or vessel anchorage regulation.
Occupational Diving Notification
This form is to be completed prior to undertaking commercial diving operations in the port waters of the port of Melbourne.
Work Afloat Notification
This form is to be completed before undertaking works on the water in the port waters of the port of Melbourne.
